Bullish week with us reaching new ATH BTC breaking 120k +4% Wow and ETH on a tear now at 3600 +22% Marketcap also hit new ATH with 4trn now. It\u2019s driven by sentiment as there\u2019s \u201ccrypto week\u201d in DC and of course flows ETHs and Treasury companies been soaking up coins. MSTR now holding 3% of all BTC. Interestingly into also large supply, we learned that the 80000 BTC whale (see ABC 11 July 2025<\/a>) deposited all to Galaxy\u00a0. Biggest outperformers however were \u2018corporate crypto\u2019 XLM +65% Wow, HBAR +46% and XRP +40% as well as some of our fav MEMEs PENGU +57%, BONK +46% and Floki +28%. In the news we have Grayscale preparing for IPO, Nasdaq filing for ETH staking for Blackrocks ETF, Russia\u2019s Sberbank to start offering crypto custody and of course the headlines about the political back and forth during crypto week. Crypto week in\u00a0DC<\/a><\/h4>\n

This week has been called by the Chairman of the FInancial service committee as the \u201ccrypto week\u201d. They planning to push 3 major legislations through. The Genius Act which is about stablecoins and has a chance of passing into law this week actually. The much wider calrity act which deals about crypto market structure and an Anti-CBDC act. We were off to a bumby start though with some republicans even blocking out right the gates but Trump rallied the party and Genius passed now ready for Trumps signature. Stablecoins have had bipartisan support and this is now reflecting in the legislation, but the other two bills will also be key to drive our industry forward particularly on the market structure side. The Anti-CBDC bill will be added to another Act so to not having to vote on it separately. These kind of supportive bills would have been unthinkable just 12 months ago so the US is really going all in on\u00a0crypto.<\/p>\n

(Coin)Base rebranding<\/a><\/h4>\n

Just as Coinbase hits new ATH together with Bitcoin and crypto market cap (and also just reclaiming their post IPO valuations) Brian Armstrong <\/a>unveiled the all new L2 Base and the Base App that is replacing the coinbase wallet. Whats new well more seamless integration of the CEX and their L2 via the app but its more. They aim to integrate socials via farcaster and many mini apps all powered and denominated in USDC. There will be a whitelist and beta users but this is exactly what we were expecting when they initially launched Base. Brining utility and functions to CEX users while also pushing product i.e. USDC and their own L2 integrations. Key to this is an upgrade in speed<\/a> enabled by a tool from Flashbots called Flashblocks which introduces \u2018preconfirmation blocks\u2019 which allows block time from two seconds to 200 milliseconds i.e. a 10x increase in speed. This also comes as Coinbase partnered with the artificial intelligence-powered search engine startup Perplexity AI<\/a> for a real-time crypto data\u00a0service.<\/p>\n

Pump ICO\u00a0hiccups<\/h4>\n

The Pump.Fun ICO hit hard selling out within minutes of the 3 day window and leaving many exchanges that were also hyping the ICO with insufficient supply. Bybit <\/a>for example informed users that not everyone who wanted in got allocation and since the token did a +50% post listing of course the allocations were hot. Kraken <\/a>also had issues and announced that they will spread allocations wider with people that tried to get in but were not quick enough. 600mm were raised in something that many wrote off as a last cash grab of a dying extractive app. Is this symbolic of the peak of the last ICO cycle or just the beginning of the craziness. Remember in 2017 after the 1bn EOS ICO the market very quickly burst and lead to a year long painful bear. But of course these ICOs were pre-product here we have something that\u2019s already established and having brand equity (although maybe not the most\u00a0+ve).<\/p>\n
