Despite the overall pullback <\/span>of<\/span> the cryptocurrency market <\/span>in<\/span> the past 24 hours,<\/span> some lesser-known altcoins <\/span>defied<\/span>\u00a0the negative trend <\/span>by<\/span> recording substantial gains.<\/span> Two of the best performers today (May 30) include Pocket Network (POKT) and Livepeer (LPT).<\/span><\/p>\n

The price of the former has <\/span>exploded<\/span> by a whopping 350% on a daily <\/span>scale<\/span>, currently trading at roughly $0.058 (<\/span>per<\/span> CoinGecko\u2019s data).<\/span> This<\/span> is the highest mark observed since December last year, while POKT\u2019s market capitalization surged past $100 million.<\/span><\/p>\n

For its part, LPT soared by over 80% within the timeframe. As of this writing, its valuation stands at a four-month high of around $10.17, with a market cap of more than $420 million.

The most obvious factor driving the price increase is the latest announcement from Upbit. <\/span>The leading Korean crypto exchange <\/span>allowed<\/span><\/a> trading services <\/span>with the<\/span> assets, listing<\/span>\u00a0the LPT\/KRW, LPT\/USDT, and POKT\/KRW pairs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Pocket Network (POKT) is a US-based decentralized infrastructure protocol that provides RPC (Remote Procedure Call) services for <\/span>dApp<\/span>s<\/span>.<\/span> It is composed of full nodes that hold blockchain data and <\/span>are rewarded<\/span> with tokens for fulfilling requests.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Livepeer (LPT) <\/span>is also headquartered<\/span> in the States. It is a decentralized video streaming network built on the Ethereum blockchain. It aims to provide an accessible, scalable alternative to traditional services like AWS or YouTube\u2019s backend. Its <\/span>main<\/span> focus is on video transcoding, which is the process of converting raw video files into formats suitable for different devices.<\/span><\/p>\n

Upbit\u2019s Previous Influence<\/span><\/h2>\n

This<\/span> isn\u2019t the first time the prices of <\/span>certain<\/span> cryptocurrencies have headed north following support from the Korean platform. In February, the company <\/span>enabled<\/span><\/a> users to trade the TRUMP\/KRW, TRUMP\/BTC, and TRUMP\/USDT, which resulted in a significant rally for the meme coin associated with the American president.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A few months later, Upbit and Binance <\/span>showed<\/span><\/a> support for DeepBook (DEEP), listing the trading pairs DEEP\/KRW and DEEP\/USDT, respectively. The asset\u2019s valuation jumped by double digits following the disclosures.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
