Strawberry Has Arrived and it is Very Expensive.<\/h3>\n

OpenAI has released its much-anticipated \u201cStrawberry<\/a>\u201d model, officially named o1, designed for reasoning and solving complex problems like math and coding. o1 outperforms previous models in multistep tasks, but it\u2019s slower and more expensive to use, costing $15 per 1 million input tokens and $60 per 1 million output tokens.<\/strong> While the model is a step toward human-like AI reasoning, it\u2019s still in a \u201cpreview\u201d phase and remains prone to some errors, such as hallucinations. ChatGPT Plus and Team users can access it now, with wider availability planned. Access is extremely limited\u200a\u2014\u200ausers can test only 30 queries per week on the big model and 50 queries per week on the mini model due to its hight\u00a0costs.<\/p>\n

AI Executives go to the White House with Energy\u00a0Demands.<\/h3>\n

The CEOs of Nvidia, OpenAI, Microsoft, AWS, and CoreWeave met with U.S. officials to discuss the energy demands of AI and how to accelerate AI-focused data center development. Nvidia\u2019s CEO, Jensen Huang, emphasized the need for public-private collaboration to address power constraints due to AI\u2019s rapid growth. The White House announced initiatives, including a task force to align AI data center projects with economic and environmental goals, and efforts to fast-track data center construction.<\/strong> AI developers are spending billions on Nvidia\u2019s server chips to power these advancements.<\/p>\n

Building in Public\u00a02.<\/h3>\n

In our last edition of \u201cBuilding in Public<\/a>,\u201d we introduced our app, developed with the help of OpenCV University<\/a>. The app, now live<\/a>, lets users upload images, apply a vintage filter (I know the filter can improve, but the foundation is there), and download the results. After resolving an issue where images weren\u2019t displayed by running the server 24\/7, we launched another app <\/a>with three image processing options:<\/p>\n

Blur: <\/strong>Reduces image noise and detail by averaging pixel values. Ideal for smoothing and soft-focus effect\u00a0(s.Canny Edge Detection:<\/strong> Detects key points and edges, useful for object detection and motion tracking.Feature Detection:<\/strong> Identifies image boundaries, simplifying analysis by focusing on structural elements.<\/p>\n

These computer vision apps showcase endless possibilities in image and video processing. These are extremely simple and undressed frontends, but one they work exactly how we want with a larger menu for users, we can create nice-looking sites for commercialization.
