Experts Weigh In"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cThe Ethereum ship is slowly turning around,\u201d claimed David Hoffman from Bankless on April 19.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the process started over six months ago and changes are already observable, highlighting six areas of change Ethereum is undergoing.<\/p>\n<p>The project went through a rough patch earlier this year with <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/ethereum-foundation-dissent-dampens-eth-price-as-vitalik-asserts-authority\/\">leadership issues<\/a> at the Ethereum Foundation, developers jumping ship, and record levels of FUD being disseminated.<\/p>\n<p>However, despite that, it is still the industry standard network for DeFi, stablecoins, real-world asset <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/5-reasons-to-be-bullish-on-ethereum-eth-despite-january-drop\/\">tokenization<\/a>, and decentralized applications.<\/p>\n<h2>Evolution of Ethereum<\/h2>\n<p>After primarily being research-focused for years, Ethereum is now recognizing the need to adapt in response to competitive pressures that emerged around 2021, argues Hoffman.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the Ethereum community is actively addressing these issues through aggressive layer-1 scaling, with plans to increase gas limits tenfold over two years.<\/p>\n<p>There has also been a shift from protocol-first to product-first thinking, with new leadership roles, and the Ethereum Foundation is taking a more active coordinating role with new co-executive directors.<\/p>\n<p>He also said there is now a more inclusive culture as the doors to the \u201cIvory Tower\u201d open, enabling a welcoming ecosystem of voices into roadmap conversations.<\/p>\n<p>There is better layer-2 integration and developing interoperability standards, positioning Ethereum layer-1 service provider to L2s. Finally, an increased urgency is embracing shorter roadmap cycles and faster protocol upgrades.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEthereum\u2019s Strategic Pivot\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Ethereum ship is slowly turning around.<br \/>\nIn fact, this process started over 6 months ago \u2013 changes are already observable<\/p>\n<p>I wrote an article on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BanklessHQ?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@BanklessHQ<\/a> doing my best to identify6\ufe0f\u20e3arenas of change Ethereum is undergoing<\/p>\n<p>Read! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/zxDOXOlVdP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pic.twitter.com\/zxDOXOlVdP<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 David Hoffman (@TrustlessState) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TrustlessState\/status\/1913591657922015235?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">April 19, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n\n<p>In a recent podcast Ethereum <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/ethereum-foundation-launches-multisig-wallet-for-defi-participation\/\">Foundation<\/a> researchers Ansgar Dietrichs and Dankrad Feist said that the organization was stepping up to facilitate these steps.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParts of the Ethereum community have been pushing for this shift, while others have been resisting it,\u201d said Hoffman, who added, \u201cEthereum is a big tent that holds space for many different voices.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>The Scaling Debate<\/h2>\n<p>Uniswap founder Hayden Adams <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/haydenzadams\/status\/1913646252505366828\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">weighed in<\/a> on the Ethereum <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/ethereum-upgrades-could-boost-scalability-payments-role-binance\/\">scaling debate<\/a>, stating, \u201cI\u2019m all for scaling improvements to L1, the rollup-centric roadmap actually requires it,\u201d but pointing out that if Ethereum ultimately relies on L1 to support DeFi, Solana may have a stronger roadmap, team, and scaling model.<\/p>\n<p>He argued Ethereum should stick to its rollup-centric layer-2 scaling strategy, which it has developed over the past five years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople need to pick a lane and attempt to mitigate the risks associated with it vs scrambling to shift narratives and strategy every month.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that he was also against \u201cjust do every approach,\u201d which is probably the only thing worse than not picking an approach.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Ethereum prices remain at March 2023 levels, failing to push much higher than $1,600 so far this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The post <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/has-ethereum-turned-itself-around-experts-weigh-in\/\">Has Ethereum Turned Itself Around?
