AI chip king Nvidia (NVDA) is down 23% from its all-time\u00a0highs.<\/p>\n
Vertiv Holdings (VRT), one of my top datacenter stocks<\/a>, dropped 32% from its all-time\u00a0highs.<\/p>\n And Super Micro Computer (SMCI), the former top AI stock of 2024, crashed 66% since peaking in\u00a0March.<\/p>\n Did the AI bubble just\u00a0pop?<\/p>\n You could certainly say so judging by the price\u00a0action.<\/p>\n I disagree. I believe the AI boom is alive and well. Making this pullback an excellent buy-the dip opportunity for artificial intelligence stocks.<\/p>\n Let me explain you why and show you how to know when the AI market has reached the\u00a0top.<\/p>\n Artificial intelligence revolution is often compared to the early days of internet.<\/p>\n And rightfully so. AI has the potential to change the world just as much as internet did in the\u00a090s.<\/p>\n Likewise, investors like to compare the surge in price of AI stocks to internet stocks from the Dot-com\u00a0era.<\/p>\n I agree, stocks of AI leaders like NVDA have gone up a lot. But valuations are nowhere near the Dot-com bubble\u00a0peak:<\/p>\n Super Micro Computer trades at a PE of 20.5. Nvidia trades at a PE of 50. Vertiv\u2019s PE is 58. At these valuations, today\u2019s AI stocks wouldn\u2019t even make the\u00a0list.<\/p>\n And don\u2019t forget, it paid to own Cisco in the \u201csweet spot\u201d\u200a\u2014\u200athe period in the mid \u201990s when the internet was being built out and sales were\u00a0soaring.<\/p>\n Its stock shot up 100,000% in 10 years\u200a\u2014\u200aturning every $1,000 invested into a million\u00a0dollars.<\/p>\n Fact is, the AI revolution is just beginning. Don\u2019t forget that ChatGPT isn\u2019t even two years\u00a0old.<\/p>\n Big tech firms are locked in an AI arms race and they\u2019re spending insane amounts of money on\u00a0it.<\/p>\n We (RiskHedge<\/a>) ran the numbers and found this is one of the largest\u200a\u2014\u200aif not the<\/em> largest\u200a\u2014\u200ainfrastructure buildouts in\u00a0history.<\/p>\n The so-called hyperscallers\u200a\u2014\u200aMicrosoft (MSFT), Alphabet (GOOG), Amazon (AMZN), and Meta Platforms (META)\u200a\u2014\u200aspent $52 billion in 2Q of 2024 on AI, up +54% from just a year ago. And they plan to spend even more in the\u00a0future:<\/p>\n And those are just four companies\u2026<\/p>\n Elon Musk\u2019s AI startup xAI just built the biggest AI chip cluster ever. He connected together 100,000 Nvidia H100 AI chips, tripling the previous\u00a0record.<\/p>\n As long as big tech competes for dominance over AI, spending will continue and AI stocks will keep profiting.<\/p>\n This signal I\u2019m watching for is the \u201cIPO\u201d\u00a0curse.<\/p>\n I\u2019m struck by how many times the leading company in a hot sector has gone public and marked \u201cthe\u00a0top\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n The AOL-Time Warner merger in 2000\u200a\u2014\u200astill the largest ever\u200a\u2014\u200aculminated in the dot-com\u00a0bust.The Blackstone (BX) IPO in 2007 coincided with the top for financial markets and preceded the Great Recession.Glencore\u2019s (GLNCY) 2011 listing marked the peak in the commodity super-cycle.Coinbase\u2019s (COIN) IPO looks like it marked a top for\u00a0crypto.<\/p>\n There are many fast-growing private AI companies\u200a\u2014\u200aOpenAI, Figure AI, Anthropic, Perplexity AI\u2026 Which will eventually go\u00a0public.<\/p>\n We\u2019re at least a year away from a high-profile AI IPO. This tells me the AI trend has more room to\u00a0run.<\/p>\n New technologies follow the predictable I.P.A.\u00a0pattern.<\/p>\n I-<\/strong>nfrastructure comes first, followed by P-<\/strong>latforms, then\u00a0A<\/strong>-pps.<\/p>\n The iPhone launched in 2007\u2026 the App Store (platform) in \u201808\u2026 and then apps like Uber and Airbnb a few years\u00a0later.<\/p>\n We\u2019re in the infrastructure phase of the AI\u00a0rollout.<\/p>\n My top AI stocks to buy\u00a0are:<\/p>\n #1) Nvidia\u200a\u2014\u200aIt continues delivering excellent results and the recent pullback makes it an excellent buy-the-dip opportunity<\/a>.<\/p>\n #2) Vertiv\u200a\u2014\u200acooling is a vital part of the datacenter equation and Vertiv is the best stock in this AI\u00a0niche.<\/a><\/p>\n #3) Tesla\u200a\u2014\u200aThis is arguably one of the most misunderstood and undervalued AI stocks on the\u00a0market<\/a>.<\/p>\n Bottom line: Stop worrying about an AI bubble.
