On March 18, Four<\/span>.Meme<\/span> announced on X<\/span><\/a> that its launch function was back online following a security review. The platform had temporarily suspended the function earlier in the day to investigate what it described as <\/span>being<\/span> \u201cunder attack.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe launch function has now been resumed after a thorough security inspection. Our team has addressed the issue and reinforced system security. Compensation for affected users is underway,\u201d the Four<\/span>.Meme<\/span> team stated.<\/span><\/p>\n

How The Attack Occurred<\/span><\/h2>\n

Web3 security firm ExVul identified the exploit as a sandwich attack, a market manipulation tactic. <\/span><\/p>\n

According to ExVul, the attacker pre-calculated an address to create a liquidity pool\u2019s trading pair and then leveraged one of Four<\/span>.<\/span>Meme\u2019s<\/span> functions to purchase token<\/span>s\u2014<\/span>b<\/span>ypassing<\/span> the platform\u2019s built-in token transfer restrictions.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe hacker lay in wait for Four<\/span>.Meme<\/span> to<\/span> add liquidity to the transaction, ultimately siphoning off the funds,\u201d ExVul explained.<\/span><\/p>\n

Blockchain security firm CertiK reached a similar conclusion. It reported that the attacker manipulated the launch process by transferring an imbalanced number of <\/span>unlaunched<\/span> tokens to designated liquidity pair addresses. <\/span><\/p>\n

Once the token was officially launched, the attacker inflated the price and sold the tokens at a profit.<\/span><\/p>\n

One example cited was the SBL token, where the attacker sent a small amount of SBL to the pre-calculated pair address and then profited 21.1 BNB by sandwiching the liquidity-adding transaction at launch.<\/span><\/p>\n

The attacker ultimately withdrew 192 BNB (approximately $120,000) and moved the stolen funds to the decentralized exchange FixedFloat, CertiK reported.<\/span><\/p>\n

This marks the second exploit on Four<\/span>.Meme<\/span> in just over a month. On February 11, the platform suffered a separate attack that led to losses of $183,000 worth of digital assets.<\/span><\/p>\n

The incident comes amid a broader wave of crypto-related exploits. In February alone, cybercriminals stole $1.53 billion through scams and hacks, with the $1.4 billion Bybit exploit accounting for most of the losses.<\/span><\/p>\n

As reported, cryptocurrency-related cybercrime\u00a0<\/span>saw a decline<\/span>\u00a0in January 2025<\/span><\/a>, with hackers stealing $73 million across 19 separate incidents \u2014 a 44% drop from the $133 million stolen in January 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n
