{"id":52285,"date":"2025-03-16T22:47:27","date_gmt":"2025-03-16T22:47:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mycryptomania.com\/?p=52285"},"modified":"2025-03-16T22:47:27","modified_gmt":"2025-03-16T22:47:27","slug":"bank-of-russia-to-allow-select-investors-to-trade-crypto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mycryptomania.com\/?p=52285","title":{"rendered":"Bank of Russia to Allow Select Investors to Trade Crypto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>Russia\u2019s central bank, along with the directive of the nation\u2019s president, Vladimir Putin, has <\/span><span>submitted<\/span><span> proposals to the government to allow a limited group of local investors to buy and sell cryptocurrencies. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/cbr.ru\/press\/event\/?id=23448\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announcement<\/a>, the initiative could first be in a three-year experimental regime.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The banking institution\u2019s idea is to enable crypto trading for only those Russian investors who have at least 100 million rubles (or $1.1 million) in securities and deposits or whose<\/span><span>\u00a0annual income in the previous year exceeded 50 million rubles (approximately $570,000).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The proposal allows entities categorized as qualified investors under current legislation to participate<\/span><span>\u00a0in the experiment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Bank of Russia also aims to establish <\/span><span>certain<\/span><span> regulatory requirements for financial organizations willing to adopt cryptocurrency.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The introduction of<\/span><span> this regime could increase market transparency, offer more opportunities for experienced investors who are open to taking on higher risks, and establish clear standards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In the past, Russia\u2019s central bank has repeatedly warned that cryptocurrencies are not issued or guaranteed by any jurisdiction and are notorious for their enhanced volatility. As such, investors should <\/span><span>be aware<\/span><span> that entering the ecosystem might result in crucial losses.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The banking institution still does not recognize the asset class as a means of payment.
