The agency, whose former anti-crypto Chairman Gary Gensler resigned<\/a> on January 20, was succeeded by Mark Uyeda (who has an entirely different stance on the matter). Under his leadership, it dismissed its lawsuits against Coinbase<\/a>, Kraken, Uniswap, and more.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a recent interview, former White House official Anthony Scaramucci <\/span>claimed<\/span><\/a> that the legal tussle between the SEC and Ripple is also over. The host of the conversation, Scott Melker (known as The Wolf of All Streets), agreed with this assumption.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite Scaramucci\u2019s viewpoint, there is no official information that the lawsuit has finally <\/span>reached its conclusion<\/span>. <\/span>It has been ongoing for more than four years<\/span>, with some legal experts describing it as totally different from the aforementioned cases.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

US attorney Jeremy Hogan recently\u00a0predicted<\/a> that the battle would most likely be resolved after a settlement rather than a dismissal.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe SEC broke up with Coinbase after a\u00a0<\/span>couple<\/span> dates. Ripple and the SEC live together and have a baby,\u201d he opined.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Fox Business journalist Eleanor Terrett shared a similar thesis, outlining that Judge Torres has already <\/span>ordered<\/span><\/a> a $125 million penalty on the firm for violating <\/span>certain<\/span> rules.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Negotiations for a Better Deal<\/span><\/h2>\n

The<\/span> American lawyer James Murphy <\/span>also chipped in<\/span> lately.<\/span> He <\/span>suggested<\/span><\/a> that the lawsuit remains unsolved because Ripple might be \u201ctrying hard to get the SEC to agree to vacate some or all of Judge Torres\u2019 decisions.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He agreed that the $125 million fine is \u201cgreat\u201d for Ripple and the XRP Army since it represents just a fraction of the $2 billion the SEC initially requested.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the other hand, Murphy maintained that the findings that the company has breached some laws \u201cis not great\u201d for its reputation.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is particularly true if Ripple is considering a future exempt securities offering or IPO. I believe the SEC would have accepted a settlement \u2013 where both sides dismiss their appeals and the SEC takes the $125 million penalty \u2013 in a heartbeat,\u201d the expert added.<\/span><\/p>\n
