The interactions between Cardano\u2019s founder, Charles Hoskinson, and some of Ripple\u2019s executives in the past months have caused some <\/span>members of the crypto community<\/span> to speculate about a potential collaboration between the two ecosystems.<\/span><\/p>\n

In November last year, the bosses\u00a0exchanged<\/a> kind words, while Brad Garlinghouse (Ripple\u2019s CEO) said, \u201cNow is the time for the crypto community to come together, push for a level playing field and clear rules of the road.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Hoskinson <\/span>took part<\/span> in a heated discussion on X in which he <\/span>hinted<\/span><\/a> that Cardano might integrate Ripple\u2019s stablecoin<\/span> \u2013 <\/span>RLUSD<\/span> \u2013 <\/span>into its system.<\/span> \u201cWe\u2019ve already had a call with the RLUSD people. We are actively talking,\u201d he stated at the time.<\/span><\/p>\n

The chances of a partnership have seemingly gone up<\/span>, considering Hoskinson\u2019s most recent disclosure<\/span>.<\/span> He said<\/a> Cardano\u2019s team keeps an active conversation with Ripple\u2019s leadership regarding <\/span>the implementation of<\/span> RLUSD. Hoskinson also indicated that big news might <\/span>be announced<\/span> next month:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe talk to David Schwartz and Brad Garlinghouse<\/span>. <\/span>Strong<\/span> possibility we can negotiate (RLUSD). Ripple told us to wait till March as they just finished NYDFS. We\u2019ll see if there\u2019s a roadmap and how they\u2019ll get that done.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

A potential partnership between Cardano and Ripple (two of the most recognizable entities in the crypto world) may positively impact the prices of their native tokens. As of writing these lines, ADA and XRP<\/a> are both in the red weekly following the severe market correction<\/a> witnessed on February 3.<\/span><\/p>\n

RLUSD\u2019s Advancement<\/span><\/h2>\n

Ripple made the headlines in April 2024, revealing its plans to design a stablecoin pegged 1:1 to the American dollar. The product passed through a testing phase in the following months before being officially <\/span>approved<\/span><\/a> by the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) in mid-December.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At first, it <\/span>received<\/span><\/a> support from the cryptocurrency exchanges Uphold, Bitstamp, Bitso, Moonpay, CoinMENA, and Bullish.<\/span><\/p>\n

Monica Long (Ripple\u2019s president) <\/span>said<\/span><\/a> at the beginning of January that<\/span> people should expect such a move from other popular platforms \u201cimminently.\u201d<\/span> Shortly after, Bitstamp <\/span>hopped<\/span><\/a> on the bandwagon, listing the following trading pairs: RLUSD\/EUR, RLUSD\/USD, RLUSD\/USDT, RLUSD\/BTC, RLUSD\/ETH, and RLUSD\/XRP.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite being far away from the leaders Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC), RLUSD recently hit an important milestone: its market capitalization crossed $100 million. It will be interesting to see whether the product will keep progressing throughout 2025 and whether it will erase the big gap between itself and the leaders in its field.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
