Simplifying Solana Wallet Lookups on Twitter by Building a Browser Extension<\/p>\n
I started this project out of a daily frustration. As someone active in the Solana ecosystem, I found myself constantly copy-pasting wallet addresses from Twitter into Solscan to verify transactions and check wallet details. It was tedious and time-consuming.<\/p>\n
Being new to browser extension development, I started by exploring how popular extensions work. I dove into documentation, studied various boilerplates, and leveraged AI tools to understand the best practices. The learning curve was steep\u200a\u2014\u200afrom understanding Mozilla\u2019s WebExtensions<\/a> to figuring out the proper way to filter wallet address on\u00a0X.<\/p>\n X<\/strong> is the hub of crypto conversations, but there was no easy way to: I built a lightweight Firefox extension that automatically detects Solana wallet addresses in your Twitter feed and converts them into clickable links. No more copy-pasting!<\/p>\n Here\u2019s what it does: Why It\u2019s\u00a0Useful<\/p>\n Using this extension has saved me countless hours of manual lookups. Whether you\u2019re quickly and doing on the go stuff like I made sure the extension Try It\u00a0Yourself<\/p>\n The extension will be available soon on the Firefox Add-ons Store. For now, you can: 3. Click \u201cThis Firefox\u201d in the left\u00a0sidebar<\/p>\n 4. Click \u201cLoad Temporary Add-on\u201d<\/p>\n 5. Navigate to the extension directory and select manifest.json<\/p>\n That\u2019s it! The extension should now be loaded and ready to\u00a0use.<\/p>\n Note: Since this is a temporary addon installation, you\u2019ll need to reload the extension each time you restart Firefox.(WIP)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Getting the extension ready for the Firefox Add-ons marketplace was another learning experience. I had to ensure proper code documentation, create store assets, and go through Mozilla\u2019s review process.
