Bitcoin Could Outperform Most Assets, JPMorgan Says \u2014 But the Bank Still Won\u2019t Recommend It<\/a><\/p>\n

JPMorganChase<\/a>\u2019s asset management division has said that while bitcoin is still too volatile to be recommended for strategic investors\u2019 portfolios, the cryptocurrency could outperform most asset classes over the next 10 years.<\/p>\n

In its 2027 \u201cLong-Term Capital Market Assumptions\u201d report, the bank said that while volatility in the biggest cryptocurrency\u2019s price has dampened, it is \u201cpremature to consider BTC as a diversifier in a balanced portfolio.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

JPMorgan, one of the world\u2019s biggest banks, has utilized Bitcoin\u2019s underlying tech \u2014 the blockchain \u2014 to debut its own products. But the multinational\u2019s CEO, Jamie Dimon<\/a>, has long been a Bitcoin skeptic.<\/p>\n

\u201cBTC currently lacks a clear role as a diversifier in balanced portfolios due to unstable correlations to other asset classes,\u201d the report read.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It added: \u201cWe see bitcoin as a speculative asset and a hedge against monetary easing.\u201d<\/p>\n

The report went on to show a graph with a base case for bitcoin returns beating stocks, bonds and gold. But it did add that the coin\u2019s volatility could harm its role in portfolios.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cBut should volatility continue to decline and correlations to other asset stabilize, this may evolve in the future, particularly as regulation becomes clearer and liquidity and price discovery continue to improve,\u201d it noted.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For now, the report added, bitcoin \u201cmostly trades like a high beta risk asset that tracks global money supply growth.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Bitcoin has become more popular on Wall Street, especially since the Securities and Exchange Commission green lighted exchange-traded funds to trade in 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n

President Donald Trump\u2019s pro-crypto stance has also helped: regulators under the U.S. leader have taken a far more open approach to watchdogging the space since 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n

JPMorganChase boss Jamie Dimon has famously blasted Bitcoin, calling<\/a> it a \u201chyper up fraud\u201d and \u201cpet rock\u201d \u2014 adding that its only value is to criminals.<\/p>\n

Still, he has praised the coin\u2019s underlying technology, and lauded crypto products like stablecoins.\u00a0<\/p>\n
