{"id":240414,"date":"2026-10-16T16:32:41","date_gmt":"2026-10-16T16:32:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mycryptomania.com\/?p=240414"},"modified":"2026-10-16T16:32:41","modified_gmt":"2026-10-16T16:32:41","slug":"msci-to-move-forward-with-proposal-that-could-exclude-strategy-from-index","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mycryptomania.com\/?p=240414","title":{"rendered":"MSCI To Move Forward With Proposal That Could Exclude Strategy From Index"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/\">Bitcoin Magazine<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/news\/msci-could-exclude-strategy-from-index\">MSCI To Move Forward With Proposal That Could Exclude Strategy From Index<\/a><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Morgan Stanley Capital International is moving ahead with a proposal that could remove bitcoin juggernaut Strategy from its global equity benchmarks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The index maker <a href=\"https:\/\/app2.msci.com\/webapp\/index_ann\/DocGet?pub_key=aq0wbkjxPgo%3D&amp;lang=en&amp;format=html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> Thursday that it \u201cwill implement the proposal to define and classify non-operating companies as ineligible for inclusion in the MSCI Global Investable Market Indexes.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bitcoin treasury Strategy previously <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/news\/bitcoin-treasury-strategy-opposes-msci\">blasted<\/a> the idea, calling it \u201cmisguided\u201d and \u201cflawed.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMSCI will implement the proposal to define and classify non-operating companies as ineligible for inclusion in the MSCI Global Investable Market Indexes, as set out in the consultation announced on August 3, 2026, with minor modifications,\u201d the statement read.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe changes will be implemented as part of the November 2026 Index Review, which will take effect as of the close of November 30, 2026.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MSCI\u2019s decision won\u2019t immediately remove Strategy from its Global Investable Market Indexes but future tests could end up excluding the company from the index.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If Strategy does get removed from the index, it would mean that fewer institutional investors can or will hold the stock.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Strategy did not immediately comment on the MSCI\u2019s decision. The company <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/news\/strategy-slams-msci-possible-index-removal\">said<\/a> of the proposal in August: \u201cBitcoin doesn\u2019t need MSCI.
