An estimated $351.6 million in crypto has been moved from digital asset exchange Bitget\u2019s hot wallets in a suspected hack.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The platform\u2019s CEO said in a Thursday statement that Bitget\u2019s security team activated an emergency response when the movements were detected. Blockchain security firms had flagged<\/a> the issue earlier in the day.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAt 18:31 UTC on September 24, 2026, Bitget\u2019s security systems detected unauthorized transfers from some of our hot wallets,\u201d Bitget CEO Gracy Chen wrote<\/a> on X. \u201cOur security team activated emergency response protocols immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cBitget has navigated multiple market cycles. We will not run from this. Every dollar and every decision will be accounted for, transparently and in full.\u201d<\/p>\n

Victoria, Seychelles-based Bitget is the sixth biggest exchange, processing over $1.1 billion in trading volume per day, according to CoinGecko data.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The incident comes as crypto security is in the limelight after a string of breaches this year have the community reeling. Just in July, hackers targeted a firmware bug in the popular bitcoin hardware wallet, Coldcard, to steal<\/a> nearly $120 million in user funds.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And this month, purported white-hat hackers withdrew<\/a> about 4,000 bitcoins \u2014 worth about $320 million at the time \u2014 from Blockstream\u2019s Liquid sidechain\u2019s federation wallet.<\/p>\n

Chen added that the exchange\u2019s cold wallets remained fully secure and that user funds were safe.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She wrote: \u201cBitget operates a three-tier wallet architecture \u2014 the breach contained only a portion of the hot wallet and warm wallet layers.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the statement, deposits and trading remain fully operational but withdrawals are temporarily paused until a security review is complete.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Blockchain data firm Arkham Intelligence created<\/a> a dashboard soon after the unauthorized transfers showing that a number of different cryptocurrencies \u2014 including stablecoins \u2014 had been moved from the Bitget hot wallet.\u00a0<\/p>\n

While Bitcoin was not on Arkham\u2019s list, crypto security firm Hacken later said<\/a> on X that the largest cryptocurrency had been moved.\u00a0<\/p>\n
