Coinbase Wants The Regulated Version<\/h2>\n

The filing also fits a broader Coinbase strategy.<\/p>\n

Rather than simply replicating offshore products outside the United States, the company has been steadily building regulated derivatives infrastructure domestically.<\/p>\n

Its Designated Contract Market status gives it a venue through which products can be brought into the CFTC framework.<\/p>\n

That does not guarantee approval or immediate trading, but it gives Coinbase a regulatory path that offshore perpetual exchanges historically did not have.<\/p>\n

If the products make it through, the interesting part may be less about Apple or Tesla specifically and more about what comes next.<\/p>\n

A regulated single-stock perpetual market could eventually expand to a much wider range of equities.<\/p>\n

For now, though, the important point is procedural: Coinbase has filed the contracts, and the CFTC process comes before any U.S. launch.<\/p>\n
