We will take a deeper look into that.

There’s also some regulatory news to be explored in this article, as well as the native asset’s moves and upcoming token unlocks.

Version 26 Is Here?

The Core Team began its major protocol updates at the start of the year with the introduction of version 19.6. Several others followed, and they said that version 26 has to be completed by August 11, and it would be the second-to-last as it reads in the roadmap. The team urged Mainnet Node Operators to complete it by that deadline or risk being disconnected from the network.

That date has passed, and the team hasn’t published an official confirmation about the successful migration to v26. However, this has happened in the past as well, which doesn’t necessarily mean that they have failed to do so by August 11. Moreover, numerous accounts on X claimed that the upgrade had been completed successfully.

One of the most recent comments came from DanielFenelus2, who noted that “all the features you see on the Stellar network up to protocol v26 are now also present in Pi Network,” and that the community is expecting that release date for the final version 27.

Licenses and Listings

A recent report reminded that Pi Network had filed for regulatory registration in the EU under the July-introduced MiCA framework. The filing came through PiBit Ltd, a legal entity representing the project, and submitted a white paper under MiCA last year before ESMA registered the white paper under entry number 549 in early 2026.

The broader Pi Network community claimed in February that PiBit LTD had received full MiCA approval, but there’s no official confirmation yet; it’s only a filing to receive that green light. As we saw with the Binance fiasco, a filing doesn’t necessarily guarantee an approval.

Another development that might have gone under the radar is the native token’s listing on the first centralized exchange on Solana – SolCex. As the platform updated, it added PI, alongside Canton Network’s CC and Ethereum Classic (ETC), as of August 12.

Ecosystem Quest Participants

Pi Network’s official X account recently summarized one of the more interesting events that took place after Pi2Day (June 28) and ran for approximately two weeks. Called The Pi2Day 2026 Ecosystem Quest, it guided users (known as Pioneers) to complete activities and help them discover new apps, test ecosystem features, and understand how the broader infrastructure supports utility creation across compute, AI, and identity.

According to the team, more than 2.5 million users explored these new apps and features, such as SoloHost, Pi Sign-in, and PiVerify, and nearly 1.8 million earned a special in-app badge.

They added that these updates position Pi Network to offer distributed computing via user-run nodes, OAuth-style account access beyond its browser, and paid KYC verification to external businesses that aim to drive real utility and token demand through AI and identity infrastructure.

The community reaction was mixed, though. Some celebrated the move, while others voiced frustration over repeated quests and badges amid calls for core utilities like DEXs and launchpads.

PI Unlock and Price Update

The project’s native token has been quite volatile lately. It rebounded from the mid-July all-time low of $0.07, but it was rejected at $0.10. It dipped below $0.08 by the end of the month but managed to reclaim that level and even pumped above $0.09 on several occasions in August.

However, it has been stopped at each attempt and currently sits just inches below that level. Nevertheless, PI still trades 25% above its July ATL, but it has lost 97% of its value since the ATH marked in February 2026.

Citing data from PiScan, BenX noted that over 775 million tokens are scheduled to be released by the end of the year. Although that number sounds high, especially given the intense selling pressure, BenX claimed that most tokens move within the ecosystem without being spent.

Still, a continuously growing active supply is worrisome, as investors who have been waiting for their coins for a long time could offload them, thereby further increasing selling pressure. This is particularly true in market conditions like the current ones.

The post Important Pi Network News and PI Token Price Update: August 13 appeared first on CryptoPotato.

Although the official X account behind the project hasn’t yet announced it as complete, numerous social media users claimed that Pi Network had deployed its second-to-last major upgrade by its deadline.
