there lived an old herdsman.

yet he read the alphabets of life
in the eyes of his cattle,

and in the silent wisdom of\u00a0nature.<\/p>\n

His cowshed stood on a terraced field near the river\u200a\u2014\u200a
where the morning breeze clung to the grass
and the night\u2019s darkness rested quietly on the thatched roof.
He rolled tobacco in leaves,
took slow thoughtful puffs,
and spent his days caring for calves and buffaloes.<\/p>\n

But when morning came,
the dream slipped away.
Daily chores in the cowshed
buried the memory beneath\u00a0routine.<\/p>\n

lay rooted at the edge of the\u00a0field.<\/p>\n

He froze.
\u201cSo the dream wasn\u2019t a lie after\u00a0all.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

But when he tried to dig it out,
a strange thing happened\u200a\u2014\u200a
a seven\u2011colored halo<\/strong>, like a rainbow,
glimmered around the\u00a0plant.<\/p>\n

Such a sight belonged to folklore,
not to ordinary\u00a0herbs.<\/p>\n

As he dug deeper,
the root twisted and turned
like a serpent ready to strike.
Wherever he placed his hand,
the root shifted as if to\u00a0bite.<\/p>\n

Finally, gathering courage,
he cut the thick root with his khukuri.
A wet, taro\u2011like lump\u200a\u2014\u200a
three to four kilos\u200a\u2014\u200a
slid out from the\u00a0soil.<\/p>\n

He wrapped it in his waistcloth
and carried it back to the\u00a0cowshed.<\/p>\n

how dare you lay hands\u00a0here?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

He trembled.
The pots were right before his eyes,
yet every time he reached out,
the invisible warning held him\u00a0back.<\/p>\n

He returned to the house
and told the family everything.
Villagers came with him to see\u200a\u2014\u200a
but the field showed nothing.
No pots.
No trace.
Only ordinary\u00a0soil.<\/p>\n
