Jupiter, a DeFi aggregator built on Solana, is <\/span>working<\/span> with Ethena Labs to <\/span>roll out<\/span> its own stablecoin <\/span>called<\/span> JupUSD.<\/span> The launch <\/span>is scheduled<\/span> for the fourth quarter of 2025, and it is not <\/span>being treated<\/span> like a side feature. <\/span>Jupiter plans to make JupUSD a core part of <\/span>how<\/span> its platform <\/span>works<\/span>, <\/span>tying<\/span> it into everything from swaps and lending to <\/span>perps<\/span> trading and beyond.<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s<\/span> Holding It Together on Day One<\/span><\/h3>\n

At launch, JupUSD will be backed entirely by USDtb, a stablecoin that is itself tied to short-term U.S. Treasuries. <\/span>This<\/span> gives it a clean, traditional <\/span>kind of collateral<\/span> to start with. Later on, <\/span>Ethena\u2019s<\/span> other stablecoin, USDe, will be added <\/span>to<\/span> the mix. <\/span><\/p>\n

That will introduce more flexibility and allow for some yield optimization, but it also means extra moving parts. Instead of building a stablecoin system from scratch, Jupiter is leaning on Ethena to provide the engine behind the scenes.<\/span><\/p>\n

JupUSD Will Power More Than Just Payments<\/span><\/h3>\n

This new stablecoin is not being built just for holding or simple transfers. Jupiter wants it to function as a base layer for the entire platform. <\/span>It\u2019s<\/span> expected<\/span> to become collateral for lending, fuel for perpetual futures, and a core trading pair inside <\/span>Jupiter\u2019s<\/span> own swap tools. <\/span><\/p>\n

The goal is to rely less on outside stablecoins and instead build something fully integrated into the <\/span>platform\u2019s<\/span> own liquidity engine.<\/span><\/p>\n

Launching a Stablecoin <\/span>Isn\u2019t<\/span> a Walk in the Park<\/span><\/h3>\n

Creating something like JupUSD is a <\/span>big<\/span> technical and operational task. There are contracts to deploy on Solana, and they will need to be audited for security before anything goes live. Even then, peg stability has to <\/span>be monitored<\/span> constantly, especially once <\/span>USDe<\/span> enters the picture.<\/span><\/p>\n
